HAVE long-term residents OF ST KILDA—from Albert Park to Elwood—gotten old on us?
How have our lifestyle needs and aspirations changed now that we are in our 60s?
Of St Kilda many recall the 70s 80s and 90s with great affection—nostalgia at the very least. St Kilda was then known to be a bit on the rough side. Very rough in fact.., but fun.., but not only! St Kilda was also known to be the place where you go to be free to escape from suburbanity, that’s if you can’t make your way to Paris, London or Sydney, whatever. And where there is freedom and not much money, there is expression. It is by no surprise many artists, musician Paul Kelly, painter Gavin Brown, gardener Rick Eckersley, dogtragic Greg Exell, performance artist Fred Negro, writers plus equal share of gangsters (not to be named), and all these other twisted people have flocked to this area TO BE WHO WE ARE.
Anything wrong with this now?
Or is anything wrong with us now?
